The Fort Bragg Library has an Adult Book Group that meets the last Thursday of the month at 3:00 p.m. for a lively discussion. Contact the library to reserve a copy of the monthly selection. Contact: Dan Hess, [email protected] 707-964-2020.

Are you interested in reviewing and discussing intriguing contemporary fiction and nonfiction books on various topics? Then, you will love the Adult Book Group at the Fort Bragg Library. Join to explore books of all kinds—fiction, special interests, current and past affairs, fun trends, memoirs, etc. The Adult Book Group aims to offer readers a fresh approach to the traditional book club. Email Branch Librarian Dan Hess at [email protected] for placement on the reserve list. You can also stop by the library or call to reserve a copy of the monthly selection at 707-964-2020.

Bring your nature lovers to become a Junior Ranger in MacKerricher State Park on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Students will learn about the plants and animals of this area, geology, park safety, and more through this activity-based educational fun! Students earn badges, posters, certificates, and patches through their involvement in this state-wide program. 7-12 years old.

Parents! Take your preschoolers to the Fort Bragg Library for stories, songs, and fingerplays on most Friday mornings, 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The library is at 499 East Laurel Street, Fort Bragg, CA. 707-964-2020.

Every Friday (weather permitting) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Fort Bragg Food Bank crew of staff and volunteers will be out front at 910 North Franklin Street sorting clothing for the Friday Free Clothing Pop-Up Swap, open to clients and community members to come to look through and take home – all for free.

Little River Museum antique train and toy exhibit is on display Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It’s the little white house at the north end of the Van Damme State Park curve 8185 Highway One. The little white house hides the two-story assembly hall of the Good Templars. Summer exhibits include the Little River Pioneer Cemetery and Civil War Veterans map, Pomo Indian, bottle dump, local wildlife, the train exhibit, and more. Admission is FREE.

Visit the Temple of Kwan Tai, California State Historical Landmark #927, built-in 1852. Learn about the local area’s Chinese heritage and historical presence with their free docent tours on Saturday and Sunday. The Temple is also just a peaceful spot to come and contemplate in the heart of Mendocino. Try fortune sticks to see what fortune will be revealed. Free tours are offered Saturday from noon to 3 and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To save Point Arena’s Labor Day weekend event, Harbor-fest, local volunteers will present their new festival version. It now has a new name, and it is now the Fisherman’s Festival. It will still be in the Arena Cove from noon to 6. There will be fresh and local seafood, Albacore kabobs, fish tacos, oysters, corn on the cob, nachos, and more, local beverages, live music from Bryn and Blue Souls, New Year’s Eve, Buckridge Racket Club, and Burnt, a silent auction and great times for the whole family. This is a cash-only event, and 100% of proceeds go directly to the repair and upkeep of the Pier and Cove.

The 4th Sunday of each month is the Caspar Community Center’s 4th Sunday Breakfast from 9 to 11, serving organic, locally sourced food. Each month has a changing menu based on locally sourced produce.

The Weekly Men’s Circle meets at the Caspar Community Center on Monday evenings. This group is associated with the International Mankind Project, a nonprofit training and education organization. How’s your trivia knowledge? Find out about the Fort Bragg Library’s Adult Trivia night on July 18. It’s for fun, food, and bragging rights! Come in teams of 2-6 people, or join a team when you arrive!

A weekly food pantry every Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. is held at the Mendocino Presbyterian Church (Preston Hall) on Main Street in Mendocino.

The food pantry will be open Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is located in Albion behind the Albion Grocery and the U.S. Post Office.

On Tuesday from 1:30-2:30 PM, we host a delicious free hot meal in Preston Hall for anyone who desires one. All are welcome.

Grease is the word, and it’s coming to the Coast Cinemas as a part of the Mendocino Film Festival on Wednesday, September 6, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 cash at Coast Cinemas.

Mendocino Coast Model Railroad members meet at Laurel Deli in Fort Bragg at 7:45 a.m. each Wednesday. Guests and/or potential new members are welcome.
